TechTool was great back in the olden days when we all booted from hard drives. Does anyone actually do a surface scan anymore? I love the slick graphics with the Sensors and Fans tests, but that's not enough to justify the price. From my experience, once TechTool Pro entered the Mac world, it seemed to have a history of failure. I did purchase it a couple of times and I was not pleased with its performance.

I waited for Jsabini May 23 I've finally had it with Micromat's upgrade BS. I've had TTP for many years, and I am running v13 currently. Now they want Big deal! I have an Intel Mac, and there seems to be nothing else that's new. Plus the last upgrade was "only" Let's tack on an extra 20 to the price, and call it a deal!

Drive Scope is another. Earth to Micromat: Why don't you focus on integrating the functionality of these supposedly superior utilities into TechTool Pro itself?

Derekcurrie May 4 MacCheck is from Micromat, whose software I've been using for decades. It does require a registration serial number. You fill in your name and email address and they send you the number immediately. You fill it in and the app works. Therefore, I don't mind the promotion. It checks all the features pictured. Of course, these are just tests and MacCheck isn't going to fix anything.

It's simply going to tell you if there are problems detected by the program. The RAM test is only basic and is not going to detect any deep problems. TechTool Pro has far deeper testing available. As a free application, this is well designed and easy to use.
